Not so very long ago, parents and their children would attend church together as a family. In the last 50-60 years, the practice of providing religous teaching at home, as well attending regularly scheduled church services, has greatly dimished.
In the 1990's adult Americans have left Christianity, and now identify as atheist, agnostic, or no religous preference at all. This decline has created a negative "domino effect" in almost every aspect of our lives and can be seen in behaviors and beliefs of Americans. This decline, or abscence of going to God's house to worship with fellow believers, has even led to some churches having to close their churches for lack of attendence.
What a sad testimony for our generation today. Yes, I too have heard all of the usual excuses as to why someone chooses not to attend church services, but the Bible teaches us that gathering together is an important part of living a successful and happy life. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us that Jesus has a purpose in our gathering, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as you see the day approaching." Our gathering provides a time of collective worship to God, we can share our "burdens" and have support from our friends and family, it keeps us from self isolating and becoming lonely and the benefits you will experiance are innumerable.
Come and give us the opportunity to show you the love and acceptance just as you are, and you will discover how "gathering together" is something you cannot afford to lose!
